Google recently opened up their extensions gallery for their Google Chrome Browser. For me, this comes as a bit of a surprise, as I honestly expected this to be Q1 2010, not Q4 of this year.
Regardless, it certainly is a welcome surprise. Even more compelling here is the amount of extensions that have been published on this site within just a few days. Shortly after opening there were 300+ extensions available, and as of today there are a few hundred more as well.
This certainly bodes well for the browser. I recently tried some extensions and gave it a shot again after the launch of the gallery. There are still a few deal breakers for me — like robust tab management — but overall it’s fantastic to see this level of progress so quickly, and as previously stated, this browser is only becoming more and more solid in competition with Firefox and company.
Keep your eyes on this!
